About Me

Hi and welcome to my site PCRefuge.com.  My name is Yves and I decided to create a site (with the help of my wife!) that I wish I had found 14 years ago when I built my first computer back in 1997 (okay I know the internet wasn’t mainstream back then but you get the idea).  Here you will find a collection of how to videos, tutorials, articles, and product recommendations that I have personally written as a result of all of my experience building my own computers from scratch.  I should be honest and tell you that I do not have any formal education or training in this area other than almost finishing an electronics engineering technician program at my local college until they cancelled the program (still pissed about that one).

Everything that I endorse I personally use on my own computer. Every bit of software has been downloaded from the same links that I have provided for you. I have done a lot of research and I have found these to be the simplest yet most effective programs.

Just because someone is charging money for a program does not mean it’s better than freeware. I have never bought any software but made some mistakes over the years with trying a lot of different programs that were crap and others sadly came with viruses and other garbage that I didn’t want. Luckily for you, I made these mistakes so you don’t have to.

My goal is to provide a trusting all in one site. Computers have been a passion of mine for a very long time and it is with great pleasure to give back to the world what I have learned over the years and what I will learn tomorrow. Please do leave comments and ask me questions and I will be more than happy to help you out.  Drop me an email too if you’d like (yves@pcrefuge.com). My goal is to build a community here where we can all support each other. Enjoy!
